An approach disc is built for the shot between a drive and a putt: an upshot inside 150 feet where you need a controlled, predictable flight more than raw glide. Most of these run stable to overstable so they hold up into wind instead of getting pushed off line on a shorter, softer throw.
The MVP Neutron Watt gives a neutral, deep hand feel that suits layups and full power upshots alike. The Discraft Z Zone OS pushes the shop's most bagged approach mold further overstable for headwind holes, and the Axiom Eclipse 2.0 Glow Envy holds that same control into a night round.
New players should start with an understable approach disc before working toward the overstable end of the shelf, since a hard fading disc can bury short putts before you build up the arm speed to control it. See the full putt and approach discs collection for a slower, more putter-focused option, or check the Prodigy A5 for a stable middle ground disc.
