The Discraft Heat is a beginner-friendly distance driver with maximum glide. When thrown with a bit of hyzer, it's easy to get this understable disc to flip up and fly on flex or turnover lines. This disc is an excellent introduction to the distance driver category, and this Discraft Heat review will help you decide which Heat in stock and on sale is right for you.
Discraft gives the Heat a perfectly neutral 0.0 stability rating, but this will vary greatly depending on your skill level. It is best for those with slower arm speed, as the Heat will have a straight flight with a lot of glide. A confident flat rip will produce effortless flex shots that hang in the air, and a hyzer throw will penetrate forward with a gentle fade.
For power arms, the Heat will start flipping immediately. This makes it an easy roller disc when thrown hard. Dial back the power, and it'll be a controlled turnover machine. The Heat's lack of fade makes it less predictable, particularly in windy conditions.
Discs at or above 2cm of height are usually putters or midranges. The Heat's 2.1cm height gives it one of the highest dome tops of any driver on the market. The combination of its high dome and wide rim gives the Heat a distinctive shape that feels tall in the hand. The Heat has an extra high dome in ESP plastic.
The Heat debuted in 2014 at the Discraft "Ace Race," an annual promotional event. It has been a popular driver ever since, particularly for beginners looking to step up to distance drivers.
The Heat is an ideal driver for beginners and players with less arm speed.
