Discraft Venom Plastics

• Big Z: A stiff, slick, translucent, and highly durable blend. This plastic can take a beating and still maintain its original flight numbers. 
• ESP: Solid durability but with a softer and slightly more flexible hand feel. Easier to grip than Big Z, but will break in a bit faster. 
• Swirly ESP: Also referred to as the "Tour Series" blend, this is simply ESP with a swirl pattern added.

The Venom is built for aggressive players with above-average arm speed. While it has enough glide in the mid-flight to get some extra distance, the Venom is best for pure hyzers, tight flexes, skip shots, and headwind drives. Players with elite arm speed can work the Venom on distance lines.

It is a bit surprising to see the Venom listed with a 2.2cm rim width. Most discs in this speed range have at least 2.4cm rims, and its fellow 13-speed Nuke has a 2.5cm rim. As such, the Venom offers a more comfortable backhand and forehand grip for players with smaller hands. Early runs have a bit of dome on the flight plate to help get some extra glide in the mid-flight. 

Discraft Venom History

Test runs of the Venom appeared in 2022, and it was put into heavier production in early 2023. Discraft describes the Venom as a faster and more overstable Force, which has long been their signature overstable distance driver. Several Discraft pros, including elite power throwers Anthony Barela and Ezra Aderhold, immediately found a place for the Venom in their bags. 

Skill Level Recommendations

The Venom is best for experienced players with above-average power. 

• Novice: Its high speed, wide rim, and overstability make the Venom very difficult to control. Beginners will have trouble getting any glide or turn.
• Intermediate: The Venom is a solid utility disc for intermediate level players. Fills a niche slot in the bag. Best for overhands, skip shots, and battling extreme winds.
• Advanced: Complementary disc that fills the overstable distance driver slot. Pair the Venom with a more workable options for a well-rounded bag. 
• Pro: Reliable and predictable option for accurate maximum distance. Players with 400+ feet of power can put the Venom on long flex lines from both forehand and backhand side. Potential workhorse disc on open courses.
