    Discmania CD1 Review

The CD1 is a new release we have in stock from Discmania's "Originals" line. The "CD" stands for "Control Driver," a title that slots it between the fairway and distance driver categories. It combines the control of a fairway driver with the speed of a distance driver. We have this new release for sale now, and this Discmania CD1 review breaks down what to expect from this disc.

    Discmania CD1 Plastics

Discmania splits its production between three different factories. They make the "Originals" line in their new facility in Sweden.

    • C-Line: A stiff, slick, and durable blend with a translucent look. Discs tend to fly more overstable in this blend. The CD1 is currently only available in C-Line.

    Discmania CD1 Flight Numbers

    • Speed: 9
    • Glide: 5
    • Turn: -1
    • Fade: 2

Discmania designed the CD1 to fly like a faster version of Discmania's classic fairway driver, the FD. With subtle turn, gentle fade, and plenty of glide, the CD1 is a straight-flying driver that will carve up tight fairways. Power arms will get it to flip up to flat from a hyzer release and glide straight for long distances, while lower power players can expect reliable, stable flight patterns.

    Dimensions

    • Diameter: 21.2cm
    • Height: 1.7cm
    • Rim Depth: 1.1cm
    • Rim Width: 1.9cm

The new CD1 has almost the same dimensions as its predecessor, the CD2. Discmania dropped the height from 1.9 to 1.7cm, giving the new version a bit less dome and a slightly lower profile. The CD1 is also 0.1cm wider than the previous mold. Fans of the CD2 should find a familiar hand feel.

    History

Before 2020, Innova manufactured the "Originals" molds. When Discmania moved its facilities to Europe, the company had to re-tool some of its popular discs. The CD1 is a reimagining of the old CD2, and is the latest updated version of a classic mold to roll off the production line at their facility in Sweden.

    Skill Level Recommendations

The well-balanced CD1 is a good option for players of all skill levels.

    • Novice: A solid option for developing players adding speed to their game. Will fly stable to overstable for lower-power arms.
    • Intermediate: Versatile and workable option that could anchor the driver category.
    • Advanced: Straight flyer for technical lines and sneaky distance potential on wide-open fairways.
    • Pro: This new release has yet to appear in Discmania pro bags, but elite power arms will likely want a driver with a more aggressive fade.
