The P2 is a versatile, stable putter equally lethal off the tee pad or on the putting green. A longtime staple for professionals, this short-game workhorse is one of the most popular putters we have in stock and for sale. This Discmania P2 review breaks down what is so special about this beloved putter.
Discmania splits its production between three different factories. The P2 is part of their "Originals" line, which they manufacture in their Swedish facility.
The slightly overstable P2 has outstanding high-speed stability and reliable low-speed fade. It holds high-end distance potential for a 2-speed disc, with power arms pushing it well past 350 feet on a dead straight line. It will hold up in windy conditions and can even perform subtle flex lines in more stable premium plastics.
On the green, it has a reliable little hyzer fade on push-putts and a stable straight path for spin-putts. The P2 will have less low-speed glide than other putters. There are better options for floaty bids at the basket from 45+ feet. Generally speaking, the P2 rewards confidence and aggression on the putting green.
The P2 combines a beadless rim, a fairly flat top, and a semi-deep hand feel. Its traditional rounded rim resembles a KC Pro Aviar (minus the big bead). It has a very comfortable hand feel for both throwing and putting. The bottom line is there is nothing groundbreaking about the P2's design. It is a quintessential putt and approach mold.
Before they moved production to Europe, Discmania used Innova's facilities to produce their discs. The original P2 was very popular amongst pro players, with Paul McBeth, Simon Lizotte, and Nate Sexton all using it as their primary putter. After Discmania severed ties with Innova, the former retained the name rights to the "P2," while the latter kept the rights to the design.
In 2021, Discmania slightly retooled the design and re-released the P2. The current version is virtually the exact same disc. Innova continues to use the old production mold for several different putters: the Innova Firefly, Millennium Omega 4, and Infinite Discs Alpaca. The sheer volume of P2 clones and reissues is a testament to the disc's quality and popularity.
