It is one of the best beginner drivers we have for sale, and is the perfect introduction to the unique "gyro" technology from Axiom discs. In this Axiom Crave review, we'll go over which of our many Craves in stock is right for you. 

Axiom Crave Plastics

• Neutron: The "flagship" blend, this premium plastic is stiffer and slicker than baseline Electron. Discs fly truest to their flight numbers in Neutron. Also available in a more gummy and flexible Soft variety.
• Cosmic Neutron: Identical to Neutron but with a multi-color "burst" design.
• Plasma: An eye-catching blend with an iridescent sheen. It has similar durability to Neutron and has a gummier and more flexible hand feel.
• Fission: This lightweight blend has air bubbles injected into the plastic. The Crave was the first disc Axiom released in Fission plastic.

These classic "point-and-shoot" flight numbers make the Crave a straight flier with a gentle turn and minimal horizontal fade. Its low speed makes it easy to control, and the neutral flight will minimize the damage on misfires. Its significant mid-flight glide helps get more distance with less effort. 

While it's a great all-around disc for beginners, advanced arms will carve up tight wooded fairways with the Crave. It allows players to power down and concentrate on control without sacrificing too much distance. Released with some hyzer, it will flatten out and carry forward on a frozen rope. Put some extra juice on the Crave to get a drifting anhyzer finish.

Like most MVP/Axiom discs, the Crave has a flat top and a low profile. Its rim is slightly wider than a typical midrange, but also has the more pointed edge of a driver. This comfortable rim allows players of all hand sizes to experiment with different grips and release angles. 

History

Released in 2014, the Crave was the first driver in the Axiom lineup. It is a foundational mold that you can build a bag around. It was also the first disc Axiom released in Fission plastic, a lightweight blend that helps novices and junior players get more speed and distance. 

Skill Level Recommendations

The Crave is a versatile disc that will serve a purpose in any player's bag.

• Novice: Perfect beginner disc, particularly in lightweight Fission plastic. It will likely be the first driver many players can throw on a straight line. 
• Intermediate: All-around workhorse in the 250-325 foot range. It could be the centerpiece of the bag, especially on wooded technical courses. 
• Advanced: Complimentary option for straight shots, hyzer-flips, and drifting turnovers. Pair the Crave with an overstable utility disc to cover most shot shapes in the fairway driver category. 
• Pro: In the bags of multiple MVP-sponsored pros. The Crave is World Champion Sarah Hokom's signature disc.
