The easy-to-throw Proxy is the straightest flying putter we have for sale in the MVP/Axiom lineup. With extreme glide and minimal fade, it is the epitome of a "point-and-shoot" disc. The low profile and small diameter make the Proxy accessible to players of all skill levels. This Axiom Proxy review will help you decide if any Proxies in stock deserve a spot in the bag.
The Proxy has the perfect combination of speed, turn, and glide to be an absolute bomber in the putter category. Release it on a high line with some hyzer and it will flip to flat and glide for days. Throw it with some anhyzer it will soar on beautiful long-panning turnover lines. The Proxy is no slouch on the putting green, as it will achieve a floaty and straight flight with minimal effort.
Since it flies straight and has minimal fade, the Proxy tends to get knocked around in windy conditions. Its extra glide can also leave some long comebackers on the green if the putt doesn't catch any metal.
Like several putters in the MVP/Axiom line, the Proxy has the smallest possible legal diameter according to PDGA standards. Combine that with a flat top and a shallow rim, and you have one of the easiest putter molds to grip. The Proxy does not have a bead on the bottom of the rim.
Released in 2014, the Proxy was one of the first discs released in the Axiom lineup. It lives in the shadow of Axiom's ultra-popular putter, the Envy. However, the Proxy is easier to throw for most players. The two discs share the same "core" or "flight plate" but have different rim configurations.
The Proxy is a solid choice for players of any skill level. However, its subtle turn and gentle fade make it especially useful for beginners and intermediates.
