Discraft Thrasher Plastics

• Z Line: A stiff, slick, translucent, and very durable blend. Disc in this plastic have a bit less turn and a more reliable fade.
• Big Z: Virtually identical to Z Line, the Big Z has a slightly gummier hand feel and a more opaque look.
• Titanium: A very stiff blend that has maximum durability. Discs generally fly more overstable in this plastic. 
• ESP: Solid durability but with a more flexible and softer hand feel. Discs generally fly close to thier posted fight numbers in ESP. 
• FLX: The Thrasher is produced in both Z FLX and ESP FLX. Both are very flexible and gummy versions of the regular Z and ESP blends. Discs will fly more understable in this plastic.
• CryZtal Sparkle: A sparkly version for Z line plastic. 
• Pro D: Baseline plastic with excellent grip but very low durability. Good for putters and mids, but prone to extreme warping for wide-rimmed high-speed drivers. 
• X Line: A step above Pro D, X Line also has an excellent grip but with slightly more durability, but not a good option for wide-rimmed high-speed drivers.

Players with around 300 feet of power will be able to take advantage of the Thrasher's generous -3 turn rating. With a flat release, it will drift anhyzer before finishing back to center. When thrown with a bit of hyzer, it will flip to flat and glide. This workability makes the Thrasher an excellent introduction to the high-speed driver category.

The Thrasher has a bit of a dome top and a relatively narrow and easy-to-grip rim. Compared to fellow high-speed understable discs like the Hades (2.3cm) and Nuke SS (2.5cm), the Thrasher's 2.1cm rim width is much easier to get the hands around. Combine that with a shallow 1.1cm rim depth, and you get a shape that will fit any hand size. 

History

Discraft introduced the Thrasher in 2016 as a beginner-friendly high-speed distance driver. The very similar Hades has since overshadowed it, but the Thrasher is an equivalent disc that is easier to find in a wide variety of stock plastics. Players searching for the rarer Hades could just buy a Thrasher instead. It has an identical flight but comes with a lower price tag. 

Skill Level Recommendations

The Thrasher is a go-to option for beginners and intermediates, and serves a complimentary role for advanced players. 

• Novice: A bit too fast and aggressive to be a starter disc, but once a player gets their throwing fundamentals down it's a solid choice for a first distance driver. 
• Intermediate: Fills maximum distance slot for intermediates. Allows for easy hyzer flips and flex lines without sacrificing too much control and accuracy. 
• Advanced: Understable distance driver for turnovers, tailwind drives, and steep uphill shots. Will have more turn and less fade for players with above average power. 
• Pro: Very understable niche disc for rollers, trick shots, and scramble situations.
