Discraft Z Thrasher
The Discraft Z Thrasher is the standard release of Discraft's fast, understable driver, sitting between the lighter Z Lite version and the tour series Z FLX runs in feel and price. It is built for players with decent arm speed who want long, flexible S-curve lines out of a single driver.
Flight Numbers: 12 / 5 / -3 / 2
Standard Z plastic is firmer and heavier in the hand than Z Lite, and it holds its shape and stability longer under regular play. As it wears in over a season it goes from stable-to-understable toward flippier, which makes an older Z Thrasher a good candidate for rollers even if it was too much disc for that shot when new.
Thrown with power it turns over and holds a long flex line across a wide-open fairway, with enough glide and turn to keep carrying well past where a straight driver would finish. Forehand-dominant players get aggressive distance out of this mold because the shape releases cleanly off the hand. It suits intermediate and advanced players who already have some arm speed; a brand new player will likely turn it into a roller before they mean to.
Want the exact same flight in a lighter, easier turning version? The Discraft Z Lite Thrasher gets there sooner. Prefer more grip out of the box? Try the Discraft ESP Thrasher. See the rest of our understable distance drivers.
