The Virus is a beginner-friendly fairway driver built for lower-power players. This is one of the best discs we have in stock for learning controlled straight shots and long-panning turnovers. More experienced players can use the Virus' understability to lay down easy roller lines. This Axiom Virus review covers one of our most understable discs for sale.
With a healthy -3.5 turn and minimal fade, the Virus is the most understable disc in the Axiom lineup. Across the MVP family of discs, only the Orbital has a higher turn rating (-4.5). It doesn't take much speed or spin to get the Virus to flip to flat and drift to the anhyzer side. This makes it a great shot-shaper for beginners and intermediate-level players. \
However, once it makes the turn, the Virus does not have the low-speed fade to reliably finish on hyzer. This finesse disc carves up tight lines and finishes with little horizontal movement. It will get knocked around in windy conditions and be very touchy at higher speeds.
While Axiom labels the Virus as a distance driver, these dimensions are closer to a speedy fairway driver. In short, this disc is a hybrid, and offers good control with a speed boost. The 1.85cm rim is easy to grip for players of all sizes, and the shallow rim and low profile only enhance the comfortable and aerodynamic hand feel.
Released in 2014, the Virus was part of Axiom's first wave of drivers. Many of these initial molds were discontinued, but the Virus has maintained popularity as a great option for beginners, juniors, and low-power players. It is an excellent introduction to the MVP/Axiom brand's patented "gyro" technology.
