Innova Champion Orc
1
The Innova Orc in Champion plastic is a classic 10 speed control driver built for intermediate players who want accuracy over raw distance. Champion is Innova's clearest, most durable plastic, and it keeps the Orc's low glide profile from softening for a long time. This is a control driver in the most literal sense: low glide means it drops out of the sky instead of skipping hard left when it fades.
Flight Numbers: 10 / 4 / -1 / 3
Champion holds its stability longer than Star or DX, so the flight you get fresh out of the package is close to the flight you still get a couple seasons in. It is stiffer and a little slicker than Star, which I actually prefer on a control driver since a repeatable release matters more than raw grip. It takes forehand hits well without chunking.
Thrown flat with a clean release it holds a slight overstable line before dropping, usually landing in the 320 to 350 foot range for an intermediate arm rather than the 400 plus of a bigger driver. On a hyzer it holds and does not turn over even into a light headwind. It works well as a first double digit speed driver, since the drop off is gentler and more predictable than most speed 10s. Forehand throwers use it until it beats in and starts to flip, at which point it complements a Thunderbird or a Valkyrie.
Want a touch more glide out of a control driver? The Star Orc is the same mold in a grippier plastic. Prefer less overstable at a similar speed? The Halo Star Valkyrie trades fade for more turn. See our Orc lineup.
