Champion plastic on the Ape holds its shape and its fade for a very long time, which matters on a mold this overstable since a beat in Ape starts to lose the point of owning one. It is stiff and less grippy than Star, but the extra bulk from the metal flake fill gives it a slightly heavier, more substantial feel in the hand. It takes tree hits and hard landings without chunking.

It flies like a fresh Firebird that goes a little further and skips harder on landing, and it will not turn over no matter how much power you put behind a forehand release. RHFH throwers use it for reliable distance because the overstability makes a hard flick almost impossible to mess up. Backhand throwers treat it as a specialty headwind driver or a strategic dog leg fade, not a workhorse, since anything less than 400 feet of backhand power will not unlock what this disc is built to do.
