Innova GStar Mamba (Reaper Edition)
The Innova GStar Mamba is the most understable high speed driver Innova makes, and GStar is their gummy, flexible take on Star plastic that grips well even in the cold. If your discs keep diving right and dying early, this is the fix.
Flight Numbers: 11 / 6 / -5 / 1
GStar has more give in the hand than Champion or standard Star, with a slightly tackier surface that helps on cold mornings and wet grass. It beats in fast, so the already generous turn on a fresh GStar Mamba only gets easier to access as the plastic softens. It will not hold an overstable line for you the way Champion does, but that is not what this plastic is for.
Thrown flat, it turns over hard and rides that turnover for a long, gliding flight that finishes with almost no fade. On a hyzer it flips up to flat quickly, which is the shot that turns 150 foot drives into 225 foot ones for players still building arm speed. Power throwers can hyzer flip it into a smooth anhyzer roller.
Best for a beginner or intermediate player who needs help getting distance without extra arm speed, and a good headwind disc since the wind fights the turn instead of adding to it. Advanced players mostly bag it as a dedicated roller or turnover tool.
Want more stability once it is broken in? The Star Mamba holds its flight a little longer before turning flippy. See the whole understable distance drivers lineup, or check out the Star Sidewinder for another easy turnover option.
