Innova Champion Sidewinder (Reaper Edition)
The Innova Champion Sidewinder is Innova's most understable control driver, and Champion plastic is the version that holds its turn the longest. Point it anywhere and it wants to turn over, which is exactly the job description.
Flight Numbers: 9 / 5 / -3 / 1
Champion plastic is stiff and durable, so a Sidewinder in Champion keeps its flippy, understable flight for years instead of settling down into something straighter after a season. It is not the grippiest plastic Innova makes, but it survives tree hits and rough courses better than DX or Star, and the extra stiffness actually helps beginners get a consistent release.
Thrown flat with any real power, this disc turns hard to the right and either rides that turn out for distance or rolls if you let the nose tip down, which makes it one of the better roller discs in the Innova line. On a gentle hyzer it flips up to flat and glides a long way before settling. It is not a disc for tunnel shots. It is a disc for getting out of trouble or squeezing extra distance out of a slower arm.
Best for a newer player who needs help getting the disc to turn over, or anyone who wants a dependable roller. Bigger arms should treat it as a specialty disc for tailwinds and S-curves rather than an everyday driver.
New to turnover shots? The Star Sidewinder flips even easier out of the box. Want a beefier rim with a touch less turn? Try the Halo Star Sidewinder. Check out the rest of our understable distance drivers.
