Axiom Neutron Tantrum
4
The Axiom Neutron Tantrum is a stable distance driver and the first disc in Axiom's wide 24.5 mm rim class, built for players who already have the arm speed to load up a big rim.
Flight Numbers: 14 / 5 / -1.5 / 3
Neutron plastic on the Tantrum is grippy and premium feeling, though the thick rim and noticeable dome make it sit a little differently in the hand than a standard speed 13 or 14 driver. It is durable enough to take the abuse a big arm throws at a distance driver and it keeps its stability for a long time before beating in.
Thrown flat this disc shows real high speed turn, holds that line for a long time, and then finishes with a dependable fade, which is the full S-curve players want out of a max distance driver. It flies close to an Innova Mayhem with a bit more speed behind it, and an anhyzer release only stretches that line further. This is not a beginner disc, the wide rim and dome need real arm speed to fly the way the numbers suggest, but for an intermediate or advanced thrower it is one of the longer options in the Axiom line, with plenty of drives landing well past 400 feet once the disc opens up.
Need the same brand in a driver with more control and less rim? The Neutron Defy trades some distance for a much shorter learning curve. If you already throw an Innova Star Destroyer, the Tantrum is worth comparing against it for pure distance. Browse the rest of our overstable distance drivers.
