The Innova Shimmer Star Colossus puts Innova's first speed 14 distance driver, the Colossus, into Shimmer Star, a sparkly variant of Innova's grippy Star blend.

Shimmer Star keeps the same grip and durability as regular Star with a metallic shimmer mixed into the blend. It takes a season or two of throws before it beats in, and the rim stays firm and a little wide in the hand the whole time, which is normal for a driver at this speed.

This disc needs real arm speed to unlock the turn in these numbers. Thrown flat with power it turns over into a long S curve before fading back overstable at the end, which is where the extra distance comes from. At altitude or with a big arm it flies noticeably farther than a 12 speed driver at the same effort. Advanced players use it for max distance tee shots and open bombs, but the wide rim is not the easiest fit for a smaller hand or a forehand grip, so it leans backhand.
