Innova Star Leopard3
1
The Innova Star Leopard3 is an understable fairway driver in Innova's premium plastic, and it's the disc I hand a brand new player more often than any other. The flatter, faster profile compared to the original Leopard makes it easier to control while you're still building your release.
Flight Numbers: 7 / 5 / -2 / 1
Star gives it a grippier feel than the DX and base line versions most beginners start on, and it takes noticeably longer to beat in, so the turn you buy is the turn you keep for a long stretch of rounds. It survives rough landings without cracking.
Thrown with a smooth release it flies laser straight for a control driver, and thrown flat with any power it turns over hard and rides that turnover line to the ground, which is exactly what you want for a hyzer flip. Point it on anhyzer with the right angle and it becomes a legitimate roller through tight gaps.
New players learn a clean release with this one because it forgives an early hyzer angle, and intermediate or advanced players use it specifically for turnover shots, tunnel lines through the woods, and rollers when the fairway is too tight for a bigger driver. Big arms should expect it to flip all the way over unless they hold back.
Want the beat-in version out of the box? The Innova Halo Star Leopard3 is already flippier from day one. Prefer a slower beat-in for a disc that lasts longer at full stability? The Innova Champion Glow Leopard3 holds its turn longer. See the rest of our understable fairway drivers.
