Discmania Neo Mutant
The Discmania Neo Mutant is an extremely overstable midrange and is a part of their Evolution disc line. Discmanias Neo plastic is a very grippy plastic that is stable and durable. Limit 2 per household.
The Discmania Mutant is one of the most overstable midranges I have ever thrown. There's not a round edge on the disc; everything is sharp and it cuts through the wind like a knife through warm butter. If you find yourself playing in windy conditions often, this will be your new favorite midrange. There isn't a lot of glide either, so it will try to sit down and start fading very quickly.
The rim is average/slightly deep for a midrange and it feels really comfortable for sidearm shots. It fits naturally in the hand and has a ton of grip in this Neo plastic. You can throw the Mutant with a lot of anhyzer and get a nice forced turnover line for technical shots or tight gaps.
The Mutant is not a beginner-friendly disc, and even intermediate players will have a hard time getting any significant amount of distance. The only way I was able to get it to fly more than 250 ft was throwing full power with an almost vertical anhyzer release. It makes for a great utility disc for tricky lies where you need to get around an obstruction and have it fade back very quickly.
This midrange disc is definitely fun to throw and lives up to the overstable hype that it has been receiving. Give the Neo Mutant a try if you need an overstable mid in your bag!
More overstable mids: Discmania Neo Method, Dynamic Discs Lucid Sparkle Justice, Innova Champion Glow Roc3, Discraft ESP Malta.
