Innova GStar Destroyer (Reaper Edition)
3
The Innova GStar Destroyer, in our Reaper stamped run, is the distance driver that made speed 12 a normal thing to throw. It was the first disc at that speed and it's still the one nearly every touring pro has somewhere in the bag.
Flight Numbers: 12 / 5 / -1 / 3
GStar is Innova's flexible, grippy premium blend, built to stay soft and workable in cold weather when stiffer plastics go slick. It's a step below Star in raw glide but the flex makes it easier to control at high speed and it holds up well to years of tree contact. The rim is thin at 2.2 cm, comfortable at speed without feeling bulky in a smaller hand.
Full power backhand throws get real overstable glide out of it, a long, controlled fade at the end rather than a hard dump. It's also the best forehand disc a lot of intermediate players ever pick up, the -1 turn and thin rim make it easy to rip flat without the disc rolling over on you. New throwers should treat this as a distance ceiling disc, something to grow into rather than a starter, since the speed rewards a fast, clean pull more than raw arm strength. Once you can consistently get a disc up to full flight at speed 10 or so, the Destroyer is the natural next step.
Not quite ready for a 12 speed? The Star Wraith flies a little flatter and turns more before it fades. Want the same shelf-stability with a lower price point? The Star Destroyer is the same flight in Innova's standard premium plastic. Check out the rest of our overstable distance drivers.
