Kastaplast K3 Kaxe (Retooled)
The Kastaplast K3 Kaxe, retooled for a slightly smoother finish, is the version of this mold I'd point a serious player toward first. It leaves the hand straighter than a Teebird and finishes with a fade that dives forward instead of hooking hard left.
Flight Numbers: 6 / 5 / 0 / 2
K3 has a noticeably higher wing than K1, which shows up as more overstability in the air, and the plastic grips better too. It beats in gradually rather than all at once, staying grippy and firm through a long service life instead of turning slick.
It flies stable to straight with a fade that dives forward rather than swooping into a hard hook, closer to a mild Firebird finish than a typical midrange fade. It cuts through wind better than most midranges its speed, which is part of why it works as both an overstable mid and a stable fairway option depending on how hard you throw it. It's a strong single disc pickup for anyone building a smaller bag who wants one club to cover 200 to 300 plus feet.
Want the same idea in a lighter, more flexible plastic? The K1 Kaxe is a touch smoother in the hand. Looking for the more overstable Z version? The K1 Kaxe Z fades even harder. See the rest of our overstable midranges.
Speed 6, glide 5, turn 0, fade 2. Diameter 21.0 cm, rim width 1.5 cm, max weight 175 g.
