Innova Star Sidewinder
2
The Innova Star Sidewinder is the plastic most people mean when they talk about this mold by name. Star gives Innova's most understable driver a comfortable, grippy rim that is easy to power grip without feeling bulky.
Flight Numbers: 9 / 5 / -3 / 1
Star plastic breaks in at a steady pace and stays reliable across most weather, with enough grip for a confident release on both backhand and forehand throws. It is flippier out of the box than a Champion Sidewinder, which is exactly what most people are looking for when they reach for this mold.
Thrown flat with real power it turns hard and either rides that turn for extra distance or rolls if the nose drops, making it one of the more dependable roller discs around. On holes that bend right before curving back left, a flat release lets it drift with the fairway and settle in close. It is forgiving of a slightly imperfect release, which is why it is often recommended as a first understable driver.
Best for beginners who need help getting a disc to turn over, and useful for more experienced players on tailwind holes or dedicated roller shots. It is not built for tunnel shots or tight, straight lines.
Want it to hold its turn a little longer? The Champion Sidewinder stays flippy for years. Prefer a beefier Halo feel? Try the Halo Star Sidewinder. See our understable distance drivers.
