Innova GStar Mako3 (Reaper Edition)
1
The Innova GStar Mako3 , wearing our Reaper stamp, is a midrange built to do one thing better than almost anything else on the shelf: fly straight. Throw it level with clean form and it barely drifts off the line in either direction, which is not something most discs can claim.
Flight Numbers: 5 / 5 / 0 / 0
GStar is Innova's flexible cold weather blend, softer and grippier in hand than Star, with enough flex to stay controllable in freezing temps. It takes a little longer than Champion to feel broken in but it never turns chalky the way base plastics do. The flat top sits comfortably for both backhand and forehand grips.
Thrown flat at moderate power it goes dead straight with no turn and no fade, which makes it one of the most reliable upshot discs I've thrown for 150 to 250 foot approaches. Give it a slight hyzer and it drifts gently toward the basket instead of holding a hard line, and on anhyzer it turns over cleanly and rides right on a backhand. Clean release form matters here, a sloppy grip will turn it over more than the flight numbers suggest. It's a great disc for anyone working on accuracy over raw power, and a strong choice for wooded courses where a straight flyer saves strokes.
Want the exact same flight with a bit more glide? The Star Mako3 is the same mold in Innova's other premium blend. Looking for a straight midrange with a stronger finish instead? The Discraft ESP Buzzz is the usual comparison. Browse the rest of our stable midranges.
