The Discraft Z Heat is an understable control driver built in Discraft's tough Z plastic. It started life as the 2014 Ace Race mold, and it is still the disc that gives a lot of newer disc golfers their first real turnover shot.

Z plastic on the Heat holds its color and stability for years, closer in feel to Innova's Champion line than to Discraft's softer ESP blend. Switching to it from another brand's premium plastic feels a little different at first, the rim runs narrower than most, but the flight clicks into place after a few throws and stays consistent long after a base plastic disc would beat in.

Thrown flat it carries a long, smooth glide before finishing on a gentle turnover, and intermediate to advanced players can hyzer flip it with ease or hold an anhyzer line right to the ground thanks to the high glide and turn numbers. If your misses are usually short, the Heat's shape is built to add real distance without adding more power to your release, and it is a strong tailwind disc on wide open holes. Newer players use it to learn turnover shots before they are ready for a faster understable driver, and it is comfortable for forehand as well as backhand throwers.
