Kastaplast K1 Soft Berg
13
The Kastaplast K1 Soft Berg is a stable putt and approach disc built almost entirely around glide, or rather the lack of it. Kastaplast shaped the Berg with a low profile and a thumbtrack groove across the top, and in K1 Soft plastic it feels like nothing else in a putter bag.
Flight Numbers: 1 / 1 / 0 / 2
K1 Soft is a more flexible, grippier version of the standard K1 line, and that extra give is exactly what makes the Berg work. The flex lets the disc collapse a little on landing instead of skating forward, so it sits where it lands rather than skipping past the basket. It breaks in fast and only gets stickier with use.
Thrown at approach speed it flies flat and drops, refusing to glide out even on a hard release, which is the whole point of the mold. It handles both forehand and backhand releases without turning over, and it holds a firm anhyzer line for tucked pin positions. Bag it for upshots inside 100 feet and any layup where a normal putter would skip long. It is not a driving putter, and beginners who want distance out of a putt should look elsewhere.
Prefer a firmer, faster beat-in? The K1 Berg is the standard plastic in the same mold. Want more grip in cold weather? The K3 Berg runs tackier still. Check the whole Berg lineup for every version.
