Innova Star Jay
1
The Innova Star Jay is a stable, micro beaded midrange in grippy Star plastic that plays as close to neutral as any mid Innova makes.
Flight Numbers: 5 / 4 / 0 / 1
Star holds a dependable grip through a long break in period, and the low profile microbead rim keeps the disc feeling clean off the fingers on release. It resists torque better than most midranges at this speed, so a slightly off release still finishes close to straight.
Thrown flat and hard it stays straight before a short, gentle fade closes it out. Give it a little anhyzer and it holds that turn until near the very end of the flight, and on a hyzer it holds that line smoothly all the way down. That range covers a lot of ground for one disc, from understable feeling turnover shots to slightly overstable upshots, which is why a bag can shrink down to just a Jay and two other mids. Beginners learn a clean release from it fast, and it fits a forehand grip well thanks to the shallow rim depth.
Looking to simplify your midrange lineup? The Champion Jay holds this same flight even longer, and the Discraft ESP Buzzz is the closest comparable mid from another brand if you want to compare. Browse all stable midrange discs.
