The Innova Star Caiman is an overstable midrange Innova built to sit in the same slot as the Gator, minus the thick bead. Star plastic gives it Innova's usual grippy, durable feel, and the low glide keeps it from sailing long past your landing spot.

Star is Innova's premium blend: firm out of the box, a touch slick for the first round or two, then it settles into a tacky, dependable grip that shrugs off tree strikes and gravel lies. It doesn't go soft or gummy the way base line plastic does, so the flight you get today is close to what you get a year from now.

I don't find this one nearly as locked down as a Justice or an Anchor, the fade shows up later and softer than the number suggests, closer to a beadless Gator than a true wall. Thrown flat it holds a clean line and only dumps hard at the very end, good for a hyzer flip when you want a controlled fall instead of a sharp turn. Into a headwind it stays put.

Forehand throwers get the most out of the beadless rim, it releases clean without catching. Newer players use it for tight approach shots and flex lines, and experienced players reach for it once the wind picks up and a straighter midrange would blow off line.
