Discraft Z Swirl Tour Series Athena (Ledgestone)
The Discraft Athena in Z Swirl Tour Series plastic is Paul McBeth's sixth signature mold, released as part of this year's Ledgestone wave with a swirled two tone stamp. It is a stable fairway driver built for control over raw distance.
Flight Numbers: 7 / 5 / 0 / 2
Z Swirl is a firmer, glossier take on Discraft's translucent Z line, and it holds its stiffness longer than ESP does, so the fairway control you buy it for stays put through a lot of rounds. It is grippy enough for cold mornings without feeling tacky.
Thrown flat the Athena drifts slightly right for a right hand backhand and finishes with a light fade, close in feel to an Innova TeeBird but a touch flatter in the hand. It holds an anhyzer line well for players who want to work a flex shot, and lighter weights flip up nicely for newer players chasing their first real distance. Bigger arms use it as a point and shoot fairway option when a full distance driver would overshoot the fairway.
Need more speed out of the same shape? The Discraft ESP Athena flies a hair faster off the pad. Want the classic dyed look? The Big Z Athena is worth a look. Browse the stable fairway drivers collection.
