Discraft Colorshift Z Raptor (Ledgestone)
The Discraft Raptor in Colorshift Z plastic is an overstable control driver that changes color as it spends time in the sun, so the disc you throw today will look a little different after a season outside. Under the shifting surface it is the same flat-top Raptor Discraft built to punch through wind.
Flight Numbers: 9 / 4 / 0 / 3
Colorshift Z is Discraft's premium Z blend with a UV-reactive dye mixed in, so it keeps the stiffness and durability of standard Z plastic while it slowly changes shade with sun exposure. It grips well in the cold and holds its overstable flight for years without much beat in.
Thrown flat the Raptor cuts a straight line with a hard, predictable fade at the finish. On a forehand it holds an anhyzer angle and fights out of it every time, which makes it a favorite for flex shots around corners. Into a headwind it barely turns, so it is the disc I grab when the wind picks up and I need the fade anyway.
Good for intermediate and advanced players with enough arm speed to get a 9 speed up and flying. Newer players will find it fades hard and fast, so it works better as a wind disc than an everyday driver until your arm catches up.
Want a Raptor with more grip and a little less stiffness? The ESP Raptor flies the same but feels softer in the hand. Need a cheaper, everyday version? The Big Z Raptor gives you the same overstable flight for less. Browse the rest of our overstable distance drivers.
