The MVP Matrix in Proton plastic, carrying our exclusive Reaper stamp, is an overstable Gyro midrange with a board flat top and a thin profile that has made it my most dependable disc in the bag. MVP released it for their 2016 Circuit and it has stuck around as a straight, reliable workhorse ever since.

Proton is MVP’s translucent premium plastic, stiffer than Neutron with a slick feel out of the sleeve that grips up fast once you have thrown it a few times. It holds this disc’s flat profile for years without warping, and the extra weight this mold usually ships at, up to 178 grams, keeps it locked on line in the wind.

Thrown flat and hard it holds straight for close to 200 feet before fading hard left, closer to a Teebird than a true straight flyer, and it will not turn over even on a forceful forehand rip. Newer players use it as a utility disc for learning shot shapes, and once your form develops it becomes the disc for precise placement on technical, wooded lines. It fits a power grip or a fan grip equally well thanks to the thin rim.
