MVP Proton Ion
The MVP Ion in Proton plastic is a stable putter with a beaded rim and enough glide to work as a long approach disc as well as an inside the circle putter. MVP built it with a small overstable fade at the end so it holds a line instead of drifting off target.
Flight Numbers: 2.5 / 3 / 0 / 1.5
Proton is MVP’s translucent premium plastic, a little stiffer than Neutron with a slightly slicker feel fresh out of the bag, though it grips up fine once it has seen a round or two. It is durable enough to be an everyday putter, and the bead stays crisp instead of wearing smooth.
It handles steep hyzer or anhyzer releases without turning into a roller, and it carries more glide than the numbers suggest, so a full power throw can double as a short drive. The bead gives a comfortable pinch point for putting and for touch approaches on short holes, and it holds up on backhand and forehand throws. New players get a forgiving putter that will not surprise them, and anyone chasing extra distance on their putting shots will like the glide.
Prefer it without the bead? The Electron Ion gives you a similar flight in MVP’s grippier base plastic. Want a softer feel in the same mold? The R2 Neutron Ion covers that. Browse the rest of our stable putters.
