Mint Discs Apex Freetail
8
The Mint Discs Apex Freetail is an understable control driver built for hyzer flips and turnover shots, and Apex is Mint's grippiest premium plastic for it. This 10 speed driver does not ask for much arm speed, which is why so many new bags carry it as their first real roller disc.
Flight Numbers: 10 / 5 / -4 / 1
Apex is a firm, tacky blend that grips well in wet conditions and holds its edge longer than Mint's softer runs. It is stiffer out of the bag than a lot of premium plastics, so a brand new Apex Freetail can fly a touch straighter and hang onto more stability than the box numbers suggest before it wears in and the full turn shows up.
Thrown on a hyzer with a flat release it flips over early and rides flat to the ground, the hyzer flip every new player is chasing. Given real speed it goes into a long banking turnover or a full roller without much effort. Slower arms get an easy, controlled turnover, and bigger arms get a disc that will roll a long way if they let it lay over on release.
New players get a driver that finally turns over the way the flight chart promises, and forehand throwers get a comfortable, small rimmed shape that is easy to control. Power throwers should treat this as a specialty roller, not a workhorse fairway driver.
