Innova Halo Star Valkyrie
10
The Innova Valkyrie in Halo Star plastic is a high speed control driver that held the world distance record for a decade in earlier plastics. Halo Star gives it a beefier, more durable rim than standard Star, with a distinctive swirl that makes the stamp pop. This is a driver good enough for professionals but forgiving enough for a beginner just picking up their first fast disc.
Flight Numbers: 9 / 4 / -2 / 2
Halo Star holds its grip and its flight longer than DX or Pro plastic, which matters on a disc with this much natural turn since a beat in Valkyrie only gets more understable with time. It is stiffer than a straight Star Valkyrie, which I prefer for a more predictable release in the cold. Compared to Champion, which flies noticeably more overstable, Halo Star sits closer to the stamped numbers.
Thrown flat with any real speed it turns over into a long, high speed turn before settling into a clean finish, where the huge distance comes from even for a slower arm. I have watched players with almost no power get 400 plus feet out of a well thrown Valkyrie because the disc does the work once given a clean release. New players get an approachable first distance driver that builds good form, and experienced players use it for turnover shots and rollers when they need a disc to hook left to right.
New to distance drivers? The Champion Glow Valkyrie flies a little more overstable in the same mold. Want the same turnover flight in a Reaper stamp? The Star Valkyrie is the one to grab. Browse the rest of our Valkyrie lineup.
