MVP Proton Volt
2
The MVP Proton Volt is a stable fairway driver with a flat, nearly domeless profile, and Proton is the firmer, slicker plastic that holds this mold's flight numbers the longest. It has filled the reliable overstable fairway slot in a lot of bags that tried a half dozen other molds first.
Flight Numbers: 8 / 5 / -0.5 / 2
Proton grips less than Neutron but resists wear better, so it stays close to its out-of-box flight for a long time. The flat profile makes for a comfortable grip on both forehand and backhand, and there is very little dome to get in the way of a clean release.
Thrown flat it carries a long way with strong high speed stability, meaning it will not turn over even under real power, and it finishes with a reliable, progressive fade instead of dumping suddenly. That combination makes it a dependable choice for headwind holes.
Good for intermediate players who want a fairway driver that goes exactly where they aim it without much guesswork. It rewards a flat release and full power more than a finesse hyzer shot.
