Innova Halo Star Tern (Reaper Edition)
The Innova Halo Star Tern, wearing our Reaper stamp, is the high speed driver I hand to players who have the arm for a fast disc but not yet the timing for something fully overstable. The glide on this mold is enormous for a speed 12, and that glide is what does most of the work.
Flight Numbers: 12 / 6 / -2 / 2
Halo Star carries Innova's shimmer finish on top of the standard Star blend, a little more durable against scuffs than plain Star and reliably grippy across temperatures. The rim runs wide at 2.3 cm, but not max width, so it still feels manageable in a mid size hand at high speed.
Thrown flat with real power it holds a long, gliding turn to the right before settling into a clean finish, the kind of flight that turns an average pull into a genuine fairway bomb. At lighter power it flies flatter and straighter, which makes it usable well before a player has the speed to keep a fully overstable driver from dumping short. Backhand or forehand, it rewards a hyzer flip release, and on wooded holes it's forgiving enough to hold a tight line without folding over into an uncontrolled roller. It's the disc I reach for on long open holes when the wind is calm and I want maximum carry.
Want the same idea with a bit less speed and turn to manage? The Halo Star Roadrunner is more forgiving off the tee. Need a tighter turnover for narrow gaps? The Halo Star Sidewinder flips over sooner. See the rest of our understable distance drivers.
Speed 12, glide 6, turn -2, fade 2. Diameter 21.1 cm, rim width 2.3 cm, max weight 174 g.
