Discraft Z Avenger SS
3
The Discraft Avenger SS in Elite Z plastic is an overstable distance driver with a flat top and a fairway driver's manners at higher speed. Discraft built the mold's reputation on power: Nate Doss threw an Avenger to the 2005 Pro World Championship, and this Z Line run keeps that same fighting-the-wind character.
Flight Numbers: 10 / 5 / 0 / 3
Elite Z is Discraft's most durable blend, and it holds this disc's overstable flight for years of hard use. It is firm out of the box, grippy enough in dry conditions, and it will not go soft or turn neutral the way base plastic eventually does. If a disc in your bag has ever gone flippy on you after a season, this is the plastic that solves that problem.
Thrown flat, the Avenger holds its line at high speed and finishes with a hard, dependable fade instead of drifting off target. On a hyzer it stays on hyzer the whole way down, and it handles a headwind better than most fairway drivers in this speed class. Forehand throwers get a comfortable, small rim that releases clean.
Not a first driver. Big arms and advanced throwers get the most out of the fade, and slower arm speeds will feel the disc turn into a meathook before it ever flips over. Need something for a headwind hole? Try the ESP Avenger SS for a softer, grippier version of the same flight, or the X Avenger SS for a firmer, more affordable plastic to learn the mold in.
