The Innova Gator in Metal Flake Champion plastic carries a Reaper stamp on one of Innova's most overstable approach midranges. It is built to stay put wherever it lands, with almost no glide to carry it past the target. Champion plastic keeps this disc's already low glide even lower, since it does not soften up the way DX does over time. The beaded rim helps it stick to the ground on impact instead of skipping forward, though it feels bulkier in the hand than a beadless midrange like the Zone. It holds its overstable fade for a very long time, the entire reason to reach for a Gator instead of a Roc.

Thrown flat it fades hard almost immediately, which sounds like a flaw until you need a disc to stop dead on a downhill approach instead of rolling away. It is the best forehand approach disc in the shop inside 100 feet, chomping off shots and parking under the basket with very little skip. Advanced and intermediate players use it as a rescue club out of the woods or on any windy day where a normal midrange would turn over. It is not a beginner disc, since the low glide punishes a weak arm more than it helps one.
