The Roc3 takes the supreme control and accuracy of the iconic Roc midrange and adds a speed boost. The Roc3 has added distance potential but plays the same role on the course: an all-around workhorse in the 200-350 foot range. This Innova Roc3 review covers one of the most versatile midranges in stock and for sale.
While the Roc3 is noticeably faster than the Roc, it maintains the same stable to overstable flight characteristics. It has plenty of high-speed torque resistance and will hold up to elite power and spin without turning and burning. Once it hits cruising speed, the Roc3 displays high-end glide before the reliable hyzer finish takes over.
The Roc3 has the same wide diameter and big bead as the Roc, but with an extra 0.2cm of rim width. This extra weight around the perimeter translates to some extra speed with a nearly identical hand feel. Runs of the Roc3 tend to have a slightly flatter top and an overall lower profile. Neither the Roc nor the Roc3 is comfortable for power forehands.
The Roc3 debuted in 2017 as part of Innova's "3" series of discs. The company took some of its most popular molds–the Teebird, Leopard, and Aviar to name a few–and increased the rim width, thus adding a bit more speed. This was more than an effective marketing tactic. The "3" molds fly further and faster than their classic counterparts.
