Prodigy Air D4
The Prodigy Air D4 is an understable distance driver made in Prodigy's lightweight Air plastic, built to give slower arms real distance without giving up control.
Flight Numbers: 12 / 5 / -2 / 2
Air plastic is lighter than standard 400 or 400G while keeping a similar grippy, gummy feel, so the disc turns over more easily at lower arm speeds and still holds up fine to normal wear. The soft beveled rim makes for a smooth, comfortable release, and that inner rim shape is part of why this mold glides as far as it does.
Thrown flat it wants to turn over and hold a wide, gliding line before a gentle fade brings it home, which is what makes it such a strong hyzer flip driver for intermediate arms. Into a headwind it will still turn over and fight back with a small fade at the end rather than dumping hard. Newer players and disc golfers with a moderate arm speed get real distance here, and it also rewards a bigger arm looking for maximum glide on a wide open hole.
Want this same shape in a heavier, more standard plastic? The Prodigy 400 D4 holds up to more power. Looking for a comparable understable driver from another brand? The Discraft ESP Nuke is worth a look too. Browse the rest of our understable distance drivers.
