500 is one of the more durable plastics Prodigy makes, and it holds its overstability for years of hard forehand releases without softening up the way a base plastic eventually does. It has a firm, beefy feel in the hand, stiffer than Prodigy's grippier base runs, and a 500 A3 will still fade hard after two full seasons of use.

At full power this disc runs into a wall around 300 feet and dumps hard, which sounds like a flaw until you realize that is exactly what makes it so reliable inside the circle. Thrown at about 70 percent power on an upshot it holds a straight, low line and finishes with a strong, predictable fade instead of skipping past the basket. It whistles in flight when you get the release right, a small thing but a fun tell that you threw it clean.

Forehand throwers get the most out of this disc. The narrow rim and firm plastic make for a clean release on flex shots and tight gaps in the woods, and it holds an anhyzer line through trouble better than most putters. On backhand it works best for short, spike hyzer upshots and layups where the disc needs to stop, not slide.
