Mint Discs Apex Lobster
10
The Mint Discs Apex Lobster is an understable midrange with a rounded, modern shape close to an MVP Hex or Reactor rather than the squared-off nose of an older workhorse mid. Apex is the plastic that gets picked up first, and it flies beautifully right out of the box.
Flight Numbers: 5 / 5 / -3 / 1
Apex is grippy and durable with extra machining that keeps flashing to a minimum, so it feels comfortable in the hand from the first throw. It holds its turn well through wear rather than settling flat right away, which keeps it useful as a turnover disc for a long time.
At lower power it holds whatever line you put it on, which makes it excellent for touchy forehand shots and downhill releases that need to hold an angle the whole way down. At full power it turns over and glides a long way before a gentle fade, giving experienced throwers easy distance in the 300 foot range.
New players and forehand throwers with less confidence get the most out of this disc because it does not need much speed to fly correctly. It has replaced other understable mids in a lot of bags for exactly that reason.
Want more glide from the same mold? The Mint Discs Sublime Lobster flies a touch further. Need something a little straighter? The Lone Star Discs Lima BB6 is a good comparison. Browse our understable midrange discs.
