The Innova Alien in DX plastic, stamped Reaper Edition, looks like a flying saucer from the side and throws like a stable putt and approach disc. It has the top of a Sonic and the underside of a modern midrange, an odd shape that ends up feeling more natural in the hand than it looks.

DX is Innova's base line plastic, matte and a little chalky compared to premium blends, but that texture actually helps grip on a dry day. It is the cheapest way to try the Alien shape, and it wears in fast, so it feels broken in within a few rounds instead of a full season.

Low glide and stable numbers mean it flies a full, honest flight almost every time instead of drifting long. The thumb track ridge on top gives you something to lock onto for control, which makes it a forgiving disc for backhand drives while you are still learning release angle. Forehand throwers get less consistency out of it than backhand throwers do. New players use it to practice a clean release; it does not hide a bad one the way a flippier disc might.
