The Discraft Challenger in ESP plastic is a tall, overstable putter with a small bead, part of the first 2024 Ledgestone release. It is built to handle longer approach shots without turning over, which is why advanced players reach for it over a flatter putter.

ESP is Discraft's grippy premium blend, softer and tackier in the hand than the Pro-D plastic the Challenger usually ships in. It holds its grip through a cold round and takes a lot longer to beat in, so the fade you get on day one is close to the fade you get years later.

Thrown flat with power it can flip up slightly, so I put a touch of hyzer on it to keep it flying true. Beyond putting range it becomes a dependable approach disc, holding a hyzer line into the green with a predictable finish. The tall profile and small bead take a round or two to get used to if you are coming from a flatter putter.

Good for intermediate and advanced players who want one disc for long putts and layups from 100 feet and in. Newer players may find it a little tall for a first putter, better suited once you already have a feel for approach shots.
