    Innova Teebird3 Review

The Teebird has been the gold standard for fairway drivers for over 20 years. The Teebird3 is a faster version of this beloved mold. It offers the workable and predictable flight of the Teebird in a sleeker and speedier package. This Innova Teebird3 review will help you decide which Teebird3 in stock and on sale is right for you.

    Innova Teebird3 Plastics

    • Star: A durable yet flexible premium blend that improves with age. Star plastic discs will beat in slowly, generating extra glide and greater distance with every tree hit. A well-worn Star Teebird3 will have exceptional glide.
    • Halo Star: A stiffer version of Star with a two-toned color scheme that creates a "halo" effect around the outer rim. Discs generally fly more overstable in this plastic.
    • G Star: Very gummy and flexible blend with outstanding grip. Discs generally fly more understable in this plastic.
    • Champion: Stiff, slick, and opaque blend that has maximum durability. Discs will hold their original flight characteristics for a long time in this plastic.
    • Metal Flake: Champion plastic with sparkly metal flakes. The flakes are purely an aesthetic difference and do not affect flight characteristics.
    • Color Glow: Champion plastic that glows. Signature Tour Series Teebird3's are made in this plastic. Many consider it the most overstable blend for mold.
    • DX: Baseline blend with excellent grip but low durability. The Teebird3 performs well in this plastic, especially for beginners. After a few tree hits, it will be a slightly understable disc with a lot of turn and glide.

    Innova Teebird3 Flight Numbers

    • Speed: 8
    • Glide: 4
    • Turn: 0
    • Fade: 2

The Teebird3 combines high-speed torque resistance, workable mid-flight glide, and a reliable, stable finish. It holds the line out of the hand and works back to a gentle hyzer fade when it starts to slow down. Players with good angle control can trust it on almost shot shape in the 300-400ft range, making it one of the most versatile drivers on the market.

The more wear and tear this disc takes, the more glide and distance it will achieve. A seasoned Teebird3 is a fantastic hyzer-flip disc, as it will turn from hyzer to flat in the mid-flight and hold a straight line. It gets huge distance on long-panning turnovers, and it will ride tailwinds as far or further than many maximum-distance drivers.

    Dimensions

    • Diameter: 21.1cm
    • Height: 1.6cm
    • Rim Depth: 1.1cm
    • Rim Width: 1.8cm

The Teebird3 has a slightly wider rim than the regular Teebird, boosting its speed rating from 7 to 8. It also has a lower profile and less dome, though this tends to vary based on plastic type. Both versions of the Teebird are so popular, and have been produced in such a high volume, that there will be subtle differences in shape and hand feel between production runs.

    History

When it was released in 2017, the Teebird3 immediately found a place in the bags of both amateurs and professionals. World Champions Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki had the Teebird3 in heavy rotation when Innova sponsored them, and it remains one of the bestselling discs the company has ever produced.

    Skill Level Recommendations

The Teebird3 is a pro-level fairway driver, but it isn't necessarily a disc that beginners should avoid it.

    • Novice: Will fill the role of overstable utility disc for beginner-level players. As skills improve and the disc takes damage, it will evolve into a great all-around driver.
    • Intermediate: All-around workhorse driver with a reliable stable finish.
    • Advanced: Versatile and predictable option to build an entire bag around.
    • Pro: Most Innova-sponsored pros carry a Teebird or Teebird3.
