The MVP Neutron Matrix is a flat, overstable midrange built during the run of GYRO discs that made MVP's name, and Neutron is the plastic this mold sells in most. It sits closer to a control driver in feel than a soft approach disc: thin profile, board flat top, and a finish that holds up round after round.

Flight Numbers: 5 / 4 / -1 / 2

Neutron is MVP's grippy, semi translucent premium blend. It is stiffer out of the box than Proton and takes longer to beat in, so a fresh Neutron Matrix runs a hair overstable and stays that way through a full season of tree hits and pavement bounces. That slow break in is why players keep one Neutron Matrix next to an older Proton version, one for wind, one for touch.

Thrown flat it holds dead straight through most of the flight and finishes with a short, controlled fade instead of dumping hard left. On a forehand release the beadless rim sits clean in the hand, and on a full power backhand rip you need a touch of hyzer to keep it from fighting back like a beat in Teebird. It shapes lines through gaps well, which is why wooded courses are where it earns its keep.

Good for a new player learning a clean, predictable midrange, and just as useful for an advanced thrower who wants a reliable approach. Same mold, different plastic: the MVP Proton Matrix beats in faster and runs a touch less overstable out of the box, while the MVP Electron Matrix is the soft, grippy version built for putting greens and cold mornings. Browse the whole lineup in the Matrix collection.

Speed 5, glide 4, turn -1, fade 2. Diameter 21.5 cm, rim width 1.4 cm, max weight 178 g.

Awesome Midrange

I started with this disc as a hand me down and it was amazing for a starter driver. With a unique grip it has an awesome feel for a beginner and I liked its reliability so much I bought a second one. On my first throw with my new Matrix I got my first Ace! Awesome disc!

neutron matrix

As a fan of unique grip, I've found the Matrix to be a versatile, reliable midrange disc. It impressively resists turnovers and never fails me with its dependable fade. It's incredibly underrated, especially in Neutron plastic

If you had to play with 1 disc

The Matrix is an under appreciated mid from MVP. It’s fast enough to handle big arms and forgiving enough for beginners. Forehand, backhand, approach and off the tee, the Matrix can do it all. Get one in every plastic if you can.
