Not sure where to start? Disc golf discs fall into four categories. Putters are the slowest and most controllable; you'll use them for short approaches and putting. Midranges cover the 150 to 300-foot range with predictable flights. Fairway drivers add speed and distance while staying manageable. Distance drivers are the fastest discs in the bag and cover the most ground, but they need more arm speed to fly correctly.

If you're just getting started, grab a putter, a midrange, and a fairway driver. That three-disc setup will teach you more about form than a bag full of high-speed drivers. As your arm speed improves, add distance drivers one speed class at a time.
