Prodigy 400 A3
2
The Prodigy 400 A3 is an overstable approach disc with a beaded rim built to hold up on hard forehand releases, and 400 plastic is Prodigy's standard grippy blend for it.
Flight Numbers: 4 / 4 / 0 / 3
400 plastic is stiff, durable, and grippy in nearly any weather without feeling tacky. It takes a long time to soften, so the strong fade you get out of the box sticks around for a long stretch of rounds, which makes this a reliable choice if you hate re-buying putters every season. The wide beaded rim adds a little extra grip for forehand releases compared to a beadless approach disc.
Thrown with power this disc crashes hard at the end of its flight instead of gliding out, which is exactly what players looking to fill a gap between a stable midrange and a full overstable putter want. On a big sweeping hyzer it holds the angle and drops fast, and into wind it barely turns at all. It works best as a scramble disc, an upshot into a guarded green, or a specialty forehand approach for players who already have a big arm. New players may find it fades too hard for standard putting; save it for approach shots until your power catches up.
Want a lighter feel with the same flight? The Prodigy 300 A3 uses Prodigy's softer base plastic. Need more weight and grip? The Prodigy 500 A3 is the beefier version. Browse more in overstable putters.
