Discraft ESP Cicada
5
The Discraft ESP Cicada is a stable fairway driver built to fly a straight line and hold it, and ESP is the grippy premium plastic most people reach for when they want that flight to last.
Flight Numbers: 7 / 6 / -1 / 1
ESP has a soft, tacky feel that grips well in cold or wet weather without going slick, and it shrugs off tree contact instead of chunking up the way base plastics do. It beats in slowly, so the control you get from a fresh Cicada is close to the control you get from one with a season of rounds on it.
On a flat release it wants to follow a frozen rope down the fairway with very little lateral drift, which is exactly what you want on a tight, tree lined hole. Give it a hyzer with some speed and it flips up to flat and holds; give it more power and it will carve into a long turnover or a full roller when the shot calls for it. Newer players get a forgiving, predictable driver, and forehand throwers like the smaller rim in the hand for clean releases.
Want more high speed turn out of the same mold? The Z Cicada flexes a little easier. Need a heavier duty plastic for years of tree hits? The Titanium Cicada holds up the longest. Shop the rest of our stable fairway drivers.
