Discraft ESP Buzzz GT (Special Edition)
3

The Discraft Buzzz GT is a midrange disc that came out in 2003 and was marketed as having a similar flight to the Buzzz with the addition of the groove track (GT) on top. The Buzzz in general is widely considered the gold standard and consistently ranks in the top 10 most popular midrange disc for straight flights.
With the groove track, there’s an undeniable change in grip. For those who managed to get their hands on these limited discs, some say the disc flies more like an overstable Buzzz. Some say it’ll give you solid midrange distance but were unable to get it to hold a straight line, and some say the track fits their thumb perfectly, giving them the benefit of added security. Either way, the groove track (and the subsequent learning curve) is definitely polarizing. But don’t fear; it will give you great consistency and shot versatility once you adjust to it.
Discraft’s hi-caliber plastic, ESP, was launched in 2006 and is a non-translucent, softer blend with a wonderfully grippy, tacky feel. Along with strong durability ratings, it’s a favorite among the pros. Heavier versions of the Buzzz GT will do great in windy conditions, and would also be a good option for roller shots in the 300-350 foot range.
With their slower speed ratings, midranges have an efficient way of teaching players who are seeking more distance that it’s not about buying a higher speed disc, but rather, improving your form. Overall, it’s a smart move to keep a Buzzz in your bag as your disc golf game matures. And with the Buzzz GT having such high collectible appeal, you might just find that you enjoy the groove- and be the coolest kid on the course.
